Originally, Ghostality was called Phasmata. The word itself seems to be deeply rooted in religious writings throughout time; especially writings of a scholarly nature. When first seeing the word, one might think of a Phantom, a Phasm or possibly Phantasma. Although all these words have various meanings, the root definition all seems to describe something apparently seen but having no physical reality. The word itself is a plural Greek word used to describe many phantoms, apparitions or ghosts.
Since the subject of 'ghosts' appears to be the 'Holy Grail' of unanswered paranormal questions in the Universe, we at Ghostality have adapted this word to reflect our reason for being here in the first place. As stated on our main page, our purpose is to help others realize the validity of life after death through scientific AND spiritual means. Since science has failed to enlighten us with valid answers to the nature of our souls, we believe the word Phasmata is quite fitting. Someday, we may all share this definition in one way or another! Ghostality is another term we think appropriate given the amazing amount of skepticism which would have everyone believe ghosts are not real. In fact, Ghosts are as real as you and I. The problem lies in the fact such phenomenon is hard to prove. Why is it hard to prove? It is our belief such phenomenon is so closely related to the physical realm, it often can be explained away through the use of natural phenomenon. Eg. Ghost orbs can easily be misconstrued due to dust or fibers floating in the air. Both have very similar characteristics. However, there are those orbs which defy explanation. |
