17th Century Jacobean Mansion

I found this story interesting given it has a ghost. Seems Cornelia Bayley purchased a 17th century Jacobean Mansion called 'Plas Teg' in the 80's. She did so by borrowing 70,000 pounds ($113,995) for the initial purchase. For the past 25 or so years, she's put over half a million dollars into the mansion restoring it.

During a show called 'Country Home Rescue', Ms. Bayley pointed out there was nothing but bits of old cars and machinery laying about the place when she first arrived. At one point, she mentioned how she could see through the floors all the way up and out of the top of the house. Pigeons could be seen flying around the rafters.Needless to say, it sounds like she had her work cut out for her. And she still is working as hard as ever to maintain this massive 30,000 square foot mansion all herself.

Paranormal tours are given for approx. $65 a person. And you can stay inside until around 3AM during the investigation. The interest lies in the sitings of a young woman attempting to cross the road in front of Plas Teg. Many have witnessed a woman walking across the road above.

Plas Teg was originally built by Sir John Trevor in 1610. Plas Teg means "Fair House/Mansion". But according to a British show, the houses history has everything but a fair history. It's dark, gruesome, bloodthirsty deeds and sorrowful events have plagued the history of Plas Teg. When it was built, it was during the time or age of witchcraft. It is notable Sir John Trevor had a witch sign placed on the fire place in the great hall. This was designed to keep evil spirits out of the house.

Retired police officer Kelvin Povey mentioned how he received regular telephone calls from motorists reporting a woman walking along the carriage way in front of Plas Teg. He found it strange no one could be found on each of the calls. He recalled a time when a young lady called reporting she had struck a pedestrian outside of Plas Teg Hall. This resulted in the authorities sending out helicopters to search the area. No one could be found anywhere around Plast Teg or the surrounding fields.

Sir John Trevor had a daughter named Dorothy. As was common with rich families back in the day, daughters were often paired with hand selected aristocratic men for marriage. In Dorothy's case, she would have nothing of it. Instead, she placed her attention on a local farmer's son and plotted to elope with him. A week before they eloped, Dorothy took some family jewelry and hid them in a well on the property. Dorothy and her lover arranged to make their escape under the cover of night. But first, she walked alone to retrieve the jewelry she had hidden.

Since she was afraid of being spotted in the night, she decided not to use a lantern to light her path to the well. Instead, in her panic to find the jewels, she slipped and fell deep into the well and drowned. As Dorothy lay in the dark well, her lover thought he had been jilted. He hung himself from the tree where they arranged to meet. Two days later, Dorothy's body was found lying at the bottom of the well. What makes this interesting is the fact their meeting place would have Dorothy's path cross the road. The same road where many motorists have spotted a young lady crossing.

A fascinating story & a superb show! I thoroughly enjoyed every bit of it & am dying more than ever to go to the UK!!

The personalities of Cornelia and the business manager who tried to help her were both very engaging. I could see myself sitting right there with them at the table.

The work that has been done to renovate the mansion is beyond grasping. It is one gorgeous home, thanks to Cornelia. That it was found a complete shambles is today incredible from the elegant look of the house, inside and out.

Britain, as we know, is filled to the brim with ghosts, thanks to its very long, rich history of a well-developed civilization. I can think of no better place to live for its culture, history, elegance and grace.

Thank You for sharing the story of Plas Teg which has captured my imagination and formed yet another invaluable link in my heart to old Albion.

With best wishes to all,
Gary

According to my exploration, billions of persons in the world receive the loans at good creditors. Thus, there is a good chance to find a short term loan in all countries.
